Story
Our youngest participants, Tilly, and Liz, enter “Unicorn Bar”, the only lesbian bar open outside of New York City, for the first time.
We find a hidden sanctuary at the height of its nightlife.
But in it’s quiet hours, local patrons raise concerns to Teresa.
The film investigates further with Michelle, a former bartender in Ohio, and Bella, on a mission to visit all lesbian bars in America.
This is a film for people who can reflect on the community and joy in lesbian spaces, AND for those who do not want to ignore the overwhelming lack of queer women's spaces.
For younger viewers, it’s about finding connection and hope that there will be spaces like this as they get older. It is also to push them to be a part of these spaces and keep them alive for the people who came before them and the ones who will come after.
For older audiences, it’s about reflection. Reflection onto the communities and spaces that shaped them, or the lack of this support in their life. We also hope to bring a positive light onto their history, while also recognizing the need for change and expansion.
